Summary

Enclosed is a diagram of a logical network and pricing list that we have proposed for Train U.  In the diagram we have designed it as a midsized network to ensure sufficient throughput, low latency, low jitter, and high reliability; and is composed of an access layer and then a backbone layer.  In the access layer of the network are switches 5,6,7, and 8, where the training labs, reception area, conference room and employees are attached to in order to gain access to the backbone, which is represented by a layer 3 switch, as switch number 4.

All lines are 100BaseT except for the employees who use office applications like word processors and spreadsheets, because they don?t utilize very much bandwidth; therefore, they are allocated a line of just 10BaseT.  Additionally from the router to the WAN it?s a high-speed line that?s a T1 that would accommodate high traffic levels that would be expected to come through that line.

In the event of a cable or equipment failure there has been fault tolerance implemented into the design of the cabling for the training labs by dividing the two training labs in half and connecting half the nodes into switch 5 and the next half into switch 6.  This provides for just a semi-malfunction of the labs instead of the whole lab in the event a switch malfunctions.

Lastly, the training facility maintains one server to host the website and another to host the SMTP and POP servers.  Since the web server should be available to the public but not the SMTP and POP servers, a firewall has been put in place between the backbone and web server in the event of any malicious attempts to shutdown, corrupt, or invade U train mail server.
